Event Description: With the introduction of Basel II Capital Adequacy guidance, regulatory authorities are placing increasing emphasis on the use of stress tests and scenario analysis. Organisations are required to identify a range of unexpected events and scenarios to which they may be exposed and be capable quantifying the potential impact. Furthermore, firms must additionally develop and effectively communicate strategies to manage these exposures which may include holding additional capital.

Within the UK, the FSA has incorporated this theme into the Prudential Sourcebook and the proposed Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment and Supervisory Review Process.

Within the context of the developing regulatory environment, this workshop will explore the use of stress testing and scenario analysis in both the assessment of capital adequacy and risk management.

To enhance the benefit of attendance scenarios will be created at individual risk level and to illustrate the potential impact of a major change in a firm’s environment.

Throughout the workshop, practical examples will based upon operational risks and OpRisk Modeller, a scenario based risk modelling tool, will be employed in order to illustrate methodologies.
