Job Description: The company is a global financial services provider engaged in retail and commercial banking, credit cards, investment banking, wealth management and investment management services, with an extensive international presence in Europe, the United States, Africa and Asia.
The company is headquartered in the UK. The company is one of the largest payment businesses providing credit cards for consumers and corporate clients as well as enabling retailers to take card payments.   The Position:   The successful candidate will manage and optimise credit risk performance of the Company’s Consumer Europe portfolios to agreed risk appetite and financial hurdles in order to support business growth. The portfolios consist of consumer credit card activities of the cards organization in the UK, Germany and Scandinavia and of the company’s UK secured loan book.
Skills/Experience: Knowledge and Expertise

- Strong knowledge and experience in multiple areas of the credit cycle relative to the function of Risk Management (including analytical, statistical and technological tools)
- Experience of multiple credit business situations - different credit products and geographies through various economic environments.
- Experience in building and deploying leading edge credit risk capabilities (people, methodologies, tools, controls)
- In-depth understanding of credit cards economics and dynamics. Experienced practitioner in value based management techniques.
- Detailed understanding of legal, regulatory and cultural factors affecting credit card lending.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking.
- Strong leadership drive and excellent strategic thinking
- Strong people leader with experience in leading broad and diverse teams across various functional areas and geographies

Requirements specific to the role
- Is astute in understanding stakeholders and their business needs, influencing decisions and getting buy-in for credit proposals and strategies
- Energetic and highly motivated: self starter who naturally assumes responsibility for initiatives, acting as a change agent in the business.
- Able to present complex analytical concepts in an engaging and simple way at all levels of business
Responsibilities: - Act as key contributor of both the Credit Risk Office (CRO) and European Consumer executive teams, supporting both the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Executive for European Consumer business to deliver on their strategic agenda.
- Develop and optimise credit risk strategies across customer lifecycle (new customers targeting and acquisition, existing customers management) to support financial plans of the European Consumer business. Bring leadership thinking into new product development and customer management programs enhancement.
- Act as an effective customer to CRO central teams (HRAM, Collections, Fraud , Decisions Science and Impairment Forecasting) to ensure alignment of priorities and to influence change/improvement enabling strong credit risk performance for European Consumer Business.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Chief Executive of the company and his senior team in order to gain support for policy changes, initiatives, project funding and strategy setting that allow the SBU to manage their risk performance whilst growing their business.
- Lead the CRO team in an inspiring and effective way to ensure they are supporting the SBU in meeting their strategic ambitions. Champion talent development across CRO and ensure the team is appropriately staffed with adequate succession plans in place.
- Implement and execute appropriate governance around credit risk. Ensure the company’s CRO is well managed and compliant with regulations and internal guidelines. Maintain effective relationships with the Group Risk Team.
