Job Description: The company is a major global financial services provider engaged in retail and commercial banking, credit cards, investment banking, wealth management and investment management services, with an extensive international presence in Europe, the United States, Africa and Asia. 

The company has its headquarters in the UK and is one of the largest payment businesses providing credit cards for consumers and corporate clients as well as enabling retailers to take card payments. Today, the company is still the UK's most recognized brand, with 11.7 million customers. In addition, the organization is now a rapidly expanding global cards and lending business with 11.6 million customers outside of the UK and operations around the world. Currently the company is involved in nearly 50 US card partnerships.

This position will be responsible for managing the organization responsible for the Credit Risk Portfolio Management functions of High Risk Accounts/ balance control, Fraud and Collections strategy. The responsibilities span the entire company cluster including all UK and Non-UK portfolios. All strategies and policies are developed and managed by the team.

- Strong knowledge and experience in multiple areas of the credit cycle relative to the function of Risk Management

Responsibilities: Main purpose of the role is:
- To deliver on the credit and fraud loss targets and budget for each of the SBU/portfolios of the company. In the process of managing these targets, develop opportunities and manage down risks to the loss targets.

- Set overall vision and strategic plan for each of these functional risk areas so as to attain targeted performance and drive business performance

- Develop strong working relationships with SBU Risk and Business partners, the company’s central risk functions, Group/ Risk, Finance, and Operations to ensure strategic alignment and manage change.

- Incorporate the latest practices from the industry and introduce innovations to continuously improve our strategies. Maintain best-in-class practices, policies and performance.

- Build a strong organization of managers and analyst for these CRO functions. Ensure that they work together synergistically. Develop talent and manage to high performance

- Responsible for ensuring overall compliance with government regulations and company policies, Ensure that all appropriate governance processes are in place and followed.   

Key Accountabilities: 

Policy/ Strategy Development and Portfolio Analysis:
- Manage teams to action the following:
  - Data mining and statistically based analysis to develop segmentation, policies and strategies
  - Employ actions to control risk specific to identified risk segments. Optimized targeting and actions to be applied
  - Use test vs. control methods to support new strategy development
  - Use all available data sources, statistical models and tools in the development of strategies
  - Continuous assessment of portfolio and strategy performance metrics.
  - Ongoing and Ad hoc responses to internal and external data/information requests (including regulatory)

- Ensure that strategies and polices are aligned with the SBU’s overarching strategy and goals.
- Review and approve strategies/ policy changes as appropriate
- Set group strategic direction and key priorities   

Stakeholder and Senior Team Relationship Mgmt:
- Cultivate strong working relationships cross-functionally and with credit operations to ensure alignment of priorities and to influence change/ improvement
- Present performance results, initiatives and issues to key stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Maintain strong relationship with the business to champion CRO initiatives, gain support and raise awareness of the group’s contributions
- Manage expectations of senior managers. Work with them to gain support for policy changes, initiatives, project funding and strategy setting

Team Leadership:
- Create and articulate a compelling vision, incorporating strategic goals and short/medium term priorities. Inspire and drive high performance in individuals and team, enabling each team member to understand his/her role in team success.
- Set clear, challenging objectives, and development plans. Monitor and review objectives with team members on a regular basis, providing the necessary support and resources.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback and coaching to all team members. Proactively create and/or identify appropriate performance interventions for both high and low performers.
