Turnkey Consulting develops SAP mobile security services
22/Nov/2011
SAP security specialist, Turnkey Consulting (
www.turnkeyconsulting.com
), is to offer new mobile-focused services to SAP customers. These tackle the rise in security risks faced by organisations as they increasingly use mobile devices to support everyday business activities.
Turnkey’s move supports the launch by SAP of its mobile solution based around Netweaver Mobile and the Sybase Unwired Platform. It is also reflected by the findings of the annual Threat Horizon report produced by the Information Security Forum (ISF), which identified mobile as one of the key issues for 2012*. The new Turnkey offering will focus on:
- Mobility threat analysis
- Application security for the mobile technology stack
- Aligning mobile and backend security to ensure consistent security for processes and data assets across multiple methods of access
- Strategies for mobile access to SAP Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) content
In addition, Turnkey has developed a set of application security standards to provide organisations with best practice guidelines to help them to manage the risks presented by mobile devices.
“Over the past few years smart phones have advanced significantly in both functionality and pervasiveness. As a result many enterprises are recognising their potential as a business tool and are pushing more business tasks to hand held devices. However, many smart phones were originally developed around consumer need, and there is work to be done to ensure they are secure enough to meet business requirements,” explains Richard Hunt, managing director of Turnkey Consulting.
“Our new services are designed to fully address the challenge of securing mobile access to the organisation’s information assets. At the same time we are excited by the opportunity to help our customers to improve response times and flexibility through the use of SAP’s mobile applications for the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) toolset,” Hunt confirms.
Chris Haigh, chair of the SAP Audit, Controls and Security Special Interest Group (ACS SIG), comments: “Security of mobile devices is a great concern to many organisations, particularly those running SAP and it is something that the ACS SIG will be focussing on in 2012. Turnkey Consulting yet again has shown they are aligned with real customer concerns, by having their new service offerings ready to assist customers with these new challenges.”
